The Bangmod Festival and 3C Model is a pioneering initiative led by King Mongkuts University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) that focuses on transforming the Bangmod area into a sustainable, knowledgebased city. This project highlights the vital role that educational institutions, particularly architecture schools, can play in urban development and community wellbeing. By integrating local communities, knowledge, and environmental sustainability, the initiative aims to redefine the relationship between universities and their surrounding urban environments. The 3C ModelCycling, Canal, and Communityserves as a framework for this transformation, emphasizing sustainable transportation, cultural preservation, and communitydriven development.
The project involved extensive collaboration between KMUTT, local communities, and governmental organizations. The process began with public surveys and participatory events to gather input and share ideas for the development of the area. Key activities included the organization of bicycle trips along the Bangmod Canal to demonstrate the potential of alternative transportation and public activities to raise awareness about the canals cultural significance. The project also incorporated public art installations and annual events to attract visitors and promote the local economy.
The Bangmod Festival and 3C Model project has successfully revitalized the Bangmod area by creating a more vibrant and sustainable urban environment. The initiative has led to the construction of cycling paths along the Bangmod Canal, which connect to public transportation, thus offering an alternative to carbased commuting. Additionally, the project has boosted local businesses, fostered economic development, and preserved the cultural heritage of the Bangmod Canal community. The involvement of local government organizations has ensured the continuation of these efforts, with plans to expand the cycling network and further enhance the areas appeal as a community and tourist destination.
