Speech therapy typically requires consistent, frequent practice, but for many, logistical issues such as travel time and conflicting schedules hinder the process. The goal of the TeleMe Speech Booster is to provide a flexible, online alternative for children to practice speech exercises regularly under the supervision of a professional therapist.
The design process of the TeleMe Speech Booster followed a user centered approach, beginning with research into the challenges of accessing regular speech therapy, particularly for children in remote areas. The team developed a user friendly webbased platform that allowed speech therapists to assign exercises, record sessions, and provide feedback. Prototyping and testing involved refining the system's core functions, including video conferencing and data storage for progress tracking. Feedback from both users and therapists informed iterative improvements to enhance accessibility and effectiveness, ultimately ensuring the platforms practicality in real world applications
The output of the TeleMe Speech Booster project was the successful development of a web based platform that provided speech therapy for children with articulation disorders. This platform allowed users to practice speech exercises remotely, with features including speech recording, data storage, and video conferencing to facilitate real time feedback from therapists. The system significantly reduced the need for inperson sessions, making therapy more accessible for families in remote areas or with busy schedules. The platform helped improve the consistency of therapy sessions, which is crucial for progress in speech development
