Project Info / Background

Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) have emerged as a significant health concern in Thailand. In an effort to encourage healthy living through a preventive approach, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation is focused on enhancing people's diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management. SAANSOOK enables Thais to access nutritional information conveniently through snaptorecord and manual input features. The application becomes an integral part of daily records, fostering selfawareness in individuals' health journeys, collecting behavioral data for NCDs risk assessment, and contributing to the development of health policies in Thailand.

Research

Our design underwent three rounds of user research involving 100 participants. Through interviews and self documented diaries (via LINE OA), we gained insights into diverse lifestyles, needs, and behaviors. We defined five user typologies and focused on three: Seekers, Specialists, and Wholesome Enthusiasts those who are health conscious. These insights shaped the following design requirements: Inspire with short longterm goals Integrate with lifestyle and holistic health Provide simplified flexible suggestion Motivate and remind with quantitative data Match knowledge and offer information aligned with users level of expertise Smart choice suggestion with qualitative data Raise awareness and generate motivation with social/peer influence

Result

The Sansook project has been recognized as a strategic project by the ThaiHealth Promotion Foundation in promoting and enhancing the health of the Thai population. The goal is to expand its usage nationwide and utilize data to facilitate health policy planning tailored to behaviors in different cultural regions. For instance, analyzing and adjusting local food that may impact the risk of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). Currently, the ThaiHealth Promotion Foundation has entrusted me and the team to drive the project's expansion, fostering collaboration and partnerships in the public sector, private sector, and communities. The aim is to establish a sustainable framework for Sansook, in improving the health of the Thai population.
